Crafting Guide for Blackthorn DAoC
Welcome to the crafting system of Blackthorn, a core feature designed to enhance your Dark Age of Camelot experience. Our crafting system is not just about creating items; it's a comprehensive feature that allows for item enhancement, salvaging, and earning experience points (XP) through crafting activities. Here's everything you need to know to get started with crafting on Blackthorn.
Getting Started with Crafting
From the moment you step into the world of Blackthorn, crafting is made accessible. Here’s how you can dive into crafting:
- Choosing a Crafting Skill: As early as level 1, you can speak to your base class trainer to select a crafting skill. This early in your journey, deciding on a crafting profession will set the stage for your crafting and enhancing endeavors.
- Crafting and Enhancing Items: Once you’ve chosen your crafting skill, you’re set to craft and enhance items. Tailors, Armorcrafters, Weaponcrafters, and Fletchers can enhance items by combining them with the correct materials. Enhancing an item increases its quality, making it more potent and valuable.
- Earning XP Through Crafting: Crafting isn’t just about creating or enhancing items; it’s also a viable way to gain experience. Whether you're crafting new items or enhancing existing ones, you’ll earn both crafting skill and XP. This unique feature allows your character to grow not only through combat but through crafting as well.
Advanced Crafting Features
Blackthorn’s crafting system introduces several innovative features to support your crafting journey:
- Salvaging: From level 1, players can salvage items to obtain materials essential for crafting and enhancing. Unique to Blackthorn, you can salvage items even while in combat and on the move. This flexibility ensures that your crafting and adventuring can seamlessly integrate.
- Custom Salvage Loot Items: Monsters drop custom salvage loot items, providing a boost to your crafting materials and salvage skills. These items are tailored to enhance your crafting experience, offering a more rewarding loot system.
- Crafting in Towns: Utilize the forges, lathes, and alchemy tables in towns to craft your items. Merchants have been added to support your crafting needs, and previously decorative forges in old towns are now functional, offering more locations for your crafting activities.
Enhancing Items
Enhancing items is a straightforward process on Blackthorn:
- Right-click an item and press "Craft" to open the trading window.
- Add the required salvage materials to the item. This can be done by Tailors and Armorcrafters for armor, and Fletchers and Weaponcrafters for weapons.
- Complete the enhancement to increase the item's quality, earning craft skill and XP for you—and if you're in a group, they earn XP too!
Important Note: To gain XP for your crafts, it is crucial to talk to a crafting master first. Currently, Armorcrafting, Weaponcrafting, Fletching, and Tailoring are the available crafts for earning XP.
Blackthorn’s crafting system is designed to be an integral part of your gameplay, offering a rewarding and engaging experience. Whether you’re enhancing your gear, salvaging for materials, or earning XP through crafting, these features add depth and variety to your DAoC adventure.
